25 Bookish Facts About Me

Hey guys! Today I’m here with 25 bookish facts about me. I’ve never done anything like this before so I’m really excited. So, let’s get into it.

  1. I never, and I mean NEVER dog ear pages. I think it is a terrible way to hold your place in a book. Use a bookmark, a scrap of paper, a gum wrapper, virtually anything, but don’t bend the pages like that.
  2. My favorite genre is Fantasy. When I mean fantasy, I mean high fantasy. Dragons, magic, elves, sword and bow fights, and those kinds of things. While I enjoy modern fantasy and paranormal and pretty mush anything, high fantasy is my favorite.
  3. I am currently reading Defy by Sara B. Larson on my Kindle, or rather Kindle app on my phone. I am in love with this book. I’m on page 233 of 324.
  4. When I’m in a reading slump, it is generally because I’m not reading enough fantasy, so I just pick up a high fantasy book (either to reread or something new) and it pulls me right out of the slump.
  5. I prefer psychical books, but I love the ease of my Kindle and Kindle app.
  6. I have never read The Mortal Instruments series, the Harry Potter series, or the Percy Jackson series. (I know, I know, don’t hate me) But I am working through City of Bones to change that first one.
  7. My all time favorite book from when I was a child, and to this day, is the Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. The Hobbit is what got me into fantasy.
  8. I prefer The Lord of the Rings movies to the books. Well, here’s the thing, I’ve never gotten through the LOTR books. . .I get bored or tired of them. But I LOVE the movies!
  9. I love snacking and drinking when I read. I think this is true of most people. Having a nice crunchy/salty snack, or some chocolate while drinking a soda or juice is just fabulous.
  10. If I’m reading a physical book, I always see how many pages are in the next chapter before starting it. This is a weird one and it’s completely habitual, I almost can’t help myself.
  11. Sometimes, though I do not like reading the whole book out loud, I’ll read the dialogue out loud. Again, this is odd, but it is really fun. Try it!
  12. When I was little, instead of my dad reading to me before I fell asleep, I’d read to him before he fell asleep. Yeah, I was that much of a book nerd.
  13. I LOVE receiving books, even textbooks! In fact, I stole a textbook from my friend right before she was about to donate it so I could add it to my book collection. . .I’m kind of a book hoarder.
  14. While libraries are nice, I prefer to own my books, even if it’s something I don’t like or never finished.
  15. I reread books. Even if I didn’t like it, I give it a second chance. This is why I prefer to own books and why I keep them even if I disliked them.
  16. I very much judge a book by its cover. If I haven’t heard about a book before, and am just roaming a book store or library, I pick books based on covers or the author.
  17. I have a book shelf in my room in the shape of EJ (my initials).
  18. I sometimes love a book but don’t finish it. I’ll start a book (like Twilight: New Moon) and not finish it because I get into a slump or get distracted.
  19. I don’t really read graphic novels/comic books, even though I’m sure I would love them.
  20. I sometimes underline (in pencil) quotes in books and write the page number in the beginning of the book so I can find it later.
  21. I sometimes see a movie before I read the book. (Don’t hate me) Most of the time, the movie is what gets me into the book.
  22. Although I hate reading multiple books at one time, I usually do. Unless I sit down and read a whole book in a day or two, I tend to pick up a new book while reading the old one after a few days.
  23. I don’t read very much during the school year. If I did I would get too distracted and would remember what I’m reading instead of what I need for tests and papers.
  24. I let people borrow my books, but I have rules. I let a friend borrow a book who lives far away, and he has yet to return it to me. Ugh. However, I own a second copy on my Kindle, so it’s okay.
  25. I have never read fan-fiction. I want to at some point, but I do think the author wrote the book the way he or she did, for a reason.
