“I wish words were like little toy guns. No sting, no hurt no one. Just a bang, bang rolling off your tongue. No spark, no bullet. No kick from the trigger when you pull it. No pain, no damage done. I wish words were like little toy guns.” – Carrie Underwood, Little Toy Guns
Words are such a powerful thing! To think that a simple statement made in jest could hurt someone worse than a bullet wound! This is a simple fact that few people realize. Words are strong, sharp, and often have hidden meanings. Whether you mean what you say or not, words cut deeply. Sometimes we joke and tease and end up hurting people further than we realize.
“They’ve made me feel like a prisoner. They’ve made me feel set free. They’ve made me feel like a criminal. made me feel like a king They’ve lifted my heart to places I’d never been. They’ve dragged me down back to where I began. Words can build us up. Words can break us down. Start a fire in our hearts or put it out.” – Hawk Nelson, Words.
We need to be careful about what we say. We should use our words to make people feel “set free” and “like a king”.
“Let my words be life. Let my words be truth. I don’t want to say a word, unless it points the world back to You.”
Let’s make an effort to speak kindly. To show people love, compassion, and grace not hatred, jealousy, and condemnation.
Great post with interesting content.
